Greenland

Location from Plague Inc. by Ndemic Creations

The final holdout — an arctic island fortress with one seaport and no airport, where humanity's last survivors huddle as the rest of the world dies.

Greenland is the most memed country in Plague Inc. history, and for good reason. Its combination of arctic climate, tiny population, and a single seaport creates a natural fortress that has ended more games than any cure research ever has. The single seaport is the chokepoint. If Greenland closes it — triggered by global awareness of the pandemic — the island becomes unreachable. No airport means no airborne transmission path. No land borders mean no cross-border spread. A player who didn't infect Greenland before the port closes has essentially lost, because you can't achieve 100% human extinction if a few thousand Greenlanders survive to rebuild. The atmosphere of a Greenland endgame is haunting. The rest of the world is red — billions dead or dying — and this tiny arctic territory sits clean and blue, its port sealed, its population huddled in settlements along the coast. The wind howls. The ice holds. Humanity's last hope is a country most people couldn't find on a map.

Appearance

A vast white-green landmass in the upper left of the world map, connected to the global network by a single thin shipping line. One seaport icon, no airport icon. When uninfected while the rest of the map blazes red, it glows with the quiet smugness of geography.
