Location from Plague Inc. by Ndemic Creations
The tropical gateway — a warm island region that tourists flood into and pathogens struggle to reach once the cruise ships stop sailing.
The Caribbean functions as a warm-climate chokepoint — an island region dependent on tourism and shipping for its connection to the outside world. When global travel restrictions begin, the Caribbean can become surprisingly difficult to reach. Strategically, the Caribbean is less problematic than Greenland or Madagascar because it has multiple entry points (both air and sea routes). But its island geography means conventional land-border spread doesn't apply, and a sufficiently paranoid global response can cut its connections. The warm, humid climate means no special resistance is needed — the challenge is purely logistical. The Caribbean is often a player's second or third concern after Greenland and Madagascar. It rarely survives to the endgame alone, but it contributes to the broader island-nation anxiety that shapes every Plague Inc. strategy: infect the islands early, or spend the endgame watching them float serenely in clean blue water while the continents die.
A cluster of island markers in the blue waters between North and South America, connected by shipping lanes and air routes. Warm turquoise waters surround territories that look like scattered emeralds on the map. Airport and seaport icons dot the chain.
