Water Transmission

Item from Plague Inc. by Ndemic Creations

The harbor vector — waterborne spread that lets the pathogen travel through drinking water, sewage, and shipping lanes to reach island nations no airplane can.

Water Transmission is the Greenland key. While Air Transmission covers the majority of countries via airports, Water Transmission reaches the strategically critical seaport-only nations that have ended countless games. Greenland, Madagascar, and other island nations with seaports but no airports are only reachable through water. Beyond the strategic island-reaching role, Water Transmission also provides strong general-purpose spread through contaminated drinking water and sewage systems. This is particularly effective in countries with poor water sanitation infrastructure — typically warm, developing nations where waterborne diseases already thrive. Water 1 provides basic waterborne dispersal. Water 2 improves pathogen survival in aquatic environments and increases transmission through shipping lanes. Combined with Air Transmission, the two vectors cover virtually every country on Earth through at least one route.

Appearance

On the transmission evolution screen, Water branches into Water 1 and Water 2, with upgrade pathways combining with environmental abilities. Its icon suggests liquid dispersal — droplets or waves spreading outward. Evolved water transmission adds visible shipping lane infection arcs on the world map.
