Parasite

Character from Plague Inc. by Ndemic Creations

The invisible invader — a pathogen that lives inside its hosts so quietly that the world doesn't notice until it's already everywhere.

Parasite is the stealth specialist. Its signature mechanic — Symbiosis — means that infecting new hosts generates almost no severity. The pathogen lives in harmonious equilibrium with its hosts, taking what it needs without causing symptoms that would alert doctors or trigger news headlines. This creates the purest version of Plague Inc.'s core fantasy: the invisible pandemic. While other pathogens must carefully balance visibility against spread, Parasite can infect entire continents without raising global awareness above zero. The WHO doesn't know it exists. Hospitals see nothing unusual. The news ticker runs stories about sports and weather. The strategic challenge is DNA income. Severity and lethality generate DNA points — but Parasite deliberately suppresses both. This means slower evolution, fewer upgrades, and a longer game. You're trading speed for invisibility. The payoff comes when you've quietly infected every human on Earth and then evolve lethal symptoms all at once — a global kill switch that no cure can outrace because there was no warning period.

Appearance

A coiled, segmented organism nestled inside host tissue, its surface covered in chemical receptors that read and mimic the host's immune signatures. On the evolution screen, its pathways are muted, understated — the visual language of something designed not to be seen. Symbiosis nodes branch early and prominently.
