Citrus Lump

Item from Pikmin 2 by Nintendo / Shigeru Miyamoto

A mandarin orange found in the Emergence Cave — the earliest-encountered fruit in the game, notable mainly for being the first treasure many players pick up underground.

The Citrus Lump is ordinary fruit, which makes it extraordinary in context. The Hocotate Ship sees it and calculates Poko value. Olimar sees it and writes something careful about the thin, almost translucent skin and the scent. Louie's note suggests he would prepare it as a sorbet. This is not surprising. It returns as a fruit in Pikmin 3, where it actually produces juice. The expedition team was, as always, technically correct: it does have nutritional value. They were just wrong about which civilization it belonged to.

Appearance

A single mandarin orange at Pikmin scale — small, round, orange-peel textured. Requires 15 Pikmin or 25 to carry in different contexts. Found on sublevel 2 of the Emergence Cave, in the dark of the first underground space the captains explore.

Also known as: Citrus Lump, Face Skin, Mandarin, Tangerine
