Pikmin 2
by Nintendo / Shigeru Miyamoto
Pikmin 2 is a 2004 Nintendo GameCube strategy game in which Captain Olimar and his partner Louie return to the Pikmin planet to collect treasures worth enough to erase a catastrophic company debt. The game balances cozy surface exploration with genuinely tense cave-diving — claustrophobic dungeons where boss creatures guard key upgrades, and a debt counter that never stops ticking. Its tone is quietly devastating: the Pikmin are loyal, expendable, and somehow both.
