The blustering, deeply indebted owner of Hocotate Freight — a man who caused a financial catastrophe by trusting the wrong employee, then sent two others to fix it from space.
The President communicates almost entirely by increasingly panicked email. His messages to the ship chart his psychological state across the expedition: denial, suspicion, panic, hiding, and eventually a grudging respect for the scale of the debt he created. He refers to himself as 'shachō' — company president — with the conviction of someone who needs the reminder. He is not a villain. He is a man who made bad decisions on good faith and then had to watch two tiny employees dig him out from across space. When he finally arrives on PNF-404 to help, there's something almost tender about it — the boss who realized he should have come himself. His wife, who emails him separately, describes herself as the real boss of Hocotate Freight. She is probably right.

He carries himself with the authority of a man who has never stopped being in charge, even when hiding from loan sharks. After the debt is cleared, he arrives on PNF-404 wearing a golden-painted suit.
