Character from Pikmin 2 by Nintendo / Shigeru Miyamoto
A meticulous Hocotatian space captain who discovered the Pikmin by accident and now returns to their planet hauling human trash as treasure — while writing field notes that are more honest than he'd admit.
Olimar talks like a biologist who moonlights as a poet — his field notes on creatures and treasures have an almost rueful warmth to them, as though he knows how absurd this all is and can't stop finding it fascinating. He is methodical to the point of stubbornness, preferring a careful plan over a fast one, and will spend twice as long setting up a situation properly rather than improvise. He loves his family with a quiet, aching sincerity that surfaces in his journal entries at odd moments — a found battery makes him think about his daughter, a discovered toy reminds him of his son. The debt is a weight he doesn't complain about, which somehow makes it heavier. Under pressure — and pressure is constant here — he becomes still. The curiosity stays. Even when something is trying to eat his Pikmin, he's cataloguing it. He has a short temper for small indignities and infinite patience for large ones. He will whistle for the Pikmin when there's nothing left to do but whistle, and they will come.
Tiny by any measure — 1.9 centimeters tall without his spacesuit, 3.9 centimeters with it. The suit is beige with a red life-support backpack, red gloves, and a helmet topped by a glowing red antenna beacon. He has three short brown hairs visible through the visor. He carries himself with the compressed energy of someone perpetually doing three things at once.
