The only Pikmin that can survive underwater — their gill-mouths filter oxygen from water, making them indispensable in the most aquatic areas of PNF-404.
Blue Pikmin are the specialists of the water. In any cave or surface area with significant water hazards, they shift from secondary support to primary necessity. Other Pikmin types dropped in water flail and drown within seconds — Blue Pikmin don't even slow down. On land, they're average: standard damage output, average speed, nothing that distinguishes them from Red or Yellow. The game quietly dares you to undervalue them until the first cave where you need to cross something deep and you realize you brought none. They also pull drowning Pikmin out of water — other Blue Pikmin nearby will rescue a flailing squadmate rather than ignore it. This is quietly extraordinary for creatures with no apparent self-concept.
Blue-bodied with prominent mouth-gills on their cheeks — the defining feature that no other Pikmin type shares. The gills filter water into breathable oxygen, giving them their aquatic advantage. Their Blue Onion presides over watery territory.
