Location from Pikmin by Nintendo / Shigeru Miyamoto
A vast wetland where water covers everything and the danger grows every day — the largest area on the planet, where Olimar needs all three Pikmin types just to survive the walk from the landing site.
The Distant Spring is where Pikmin 1 stops being forgiving. Enemy populations here grow over time — new Bulbears, new Wollywogs, new Snitchbugs appearing as the days pass, as if the ecosystem is responding to Olimar's presence. Water dominates the landscape so completely that Blue Pikmin are not optional; they are the prerequisite for setting foot in most of the area. Ten ship parts are scattered across its islands and tree trunks — the highest total of any area. Recovering them requires all three Pikmin types working in concert: Blues to traverse water, Yellows for bomb-rocks and elevated parts, Reds for combat. The Distant Spring is the final exam before the Final Trial. Before Day 15, a Smoky Progg — one of the most dangerous creatures in the game — can emerge from an egg near the landing site. It emits a toxic cloud that instantly kills any Pikmin on contact. Defeating it yields a pearl worth one hundred Pikmin seeds. Most players never see it; those who do never forget it. The Distant Spring holds that kind of secret: beautiful, wet, and more dangerous than it looks.
Sprawling wetlands — the largest explorable area in the game. Sandy and grassy terrain broken by lakes, islands, and hollow tree stumps. Water covers a massive portion of the map, connecting almost every section through flooded channels and submerged paths. Giant skulls of unknown origin sit in the landscape, stuffed with bomb-rocks. The center holds the landing site surrounded by tree stumps. Rivers feed into pools that feed into lakes that seem to go on forever at Olimar's scale.
