Item from Pikmin by Nintendo / Shigeru Miyamoto
A sonar device that reveals every ship part's location on the map — the one piece of equipment that turns blind searching into strategic recovery.
The Whimsical Radar is the most gameplay-impactful ship part after the Main Engine. Before recovering it, Olimar is searching blind — wandering areas hoping to stumble across parts by chance. After recovering it, pressing Y reveals a map showing the location of every nearby ship part. The transition from lost to informed is the radar's gift. It is found in the Forest of Hope, behind a stone gate that requires bomb-rocks to destroy. The placement is deliberate: the player must first discover Yellow Pikmin and learn to use bomb-rocks before earning the ability to plan their part-recovery strategy. The radar rewards mastery with information, and information — on a 30-day countdown — is survival. Olimar's log: 'With this, I'll be able to see all nearby ship parts in a single glance — I just press Y to check it. This find fills me with great hope.'
A compact radar unit that mounts on the Dolphin's back. Emits audible sonar rings as Olimar approaches it before recovery. Metallic with a small dish or antenna array.
