Chronos Reactor

Item from Pikmin by Nintendo / Shigeru Miyamoto

A device that warps the space-time continuum into fuel — advanced technology with a poetic name, sitting on a ledge that requires a color-conversion trick to reach.

The Chronos Reactor takes strange technology and turns it into stranger narrative. Olimar describes it as a machine that warps the space-time continuum and converts the distortion into energy. He writes this with the matter-of-fact tone of a freight pilot for whom warping space-time is just another engine specification. Recovering it requires one of the game's most clever Pikmin puzzles: the perch is elevated (requiring Yellow Pikmin's throw height) but surrounded by water (requiring Blue Pikmin to reach). The solution involves using a Golden Candypop Bud to convert Blue Pikmin into Yellow Pikmin on-site — a type-transformation mechanic that the game barely explains, rewarding players who experiment.

Appearance

A compact reactor unit that wraps around the Main Engine when installed on the Dolphin's underside. Metallic with an internal glow suggesting contained energy. It sits on a high, water-surrounded perch in the Distant Spring, deliberately inaccessible without creative Pikmin management.
