Character from Pikmin by Nintendo / Shigeru Miyamoto
Ear-eared demolitionists who carry bomb-rocks with casual disregard for their own safety — the only ones who can blow open the walls blocking Olimar's path forward.
Yellow Pikmin are the engineers. Where Red Pikmin solve problems through force, Yellows solve them through demolition. They are the only Pikmin type capable of picking up and carrying bomb-rocks — volatile stone spheres found in tin cans scattered across the planet — and they handle these explosives with an eerie nonchalance, as if carrying something that could vaporize them is simply what they do. Their ear-like appendages serve a practical purpose: when thrown, the drag from those lamellae gives them extra loft, allowing Olimar to reach elevated ledges and ship parts that other types cannot access. This makes them indispensable for vertical retrieval. They are discovered at the Forest of Hope, where bomb-rock walls immediately gate progress — a design that teaches the player their purpose through necessity. A single dormant Yellow Pikmin waits inside the Yellow Onion, the first of its kind, and from that one seed the entire demolition corps grows.
Yellow-bodied with large ear-like lamellae — leaf-shaped structures that fan out from the sides of their heads, giving them a distinctive silhouette among the Pikmin types. Same leaf-bud-flower head sprout as other Pikmin. Their ears catch air when thrown, allowing them to reach significantly greater heights than their red or blue counterparts.
