Olimar talks to his ship log the way a castaway talks to a volleyball — with increasing sincerity and decreasing self-consciousness. His entries oscillate between meticulous scientific observation and raw homesickness, sometimes in the same sentence. He names alien creatures after vegetables from home. He catalogs predator behavior with the precision of a field biologist and then writes about missing his wife's cooking. He is pragmatic to his core. The thirty-day countdown leaves no room for paralysis, so he plans, prioritizes, and executes with the quiet competence of someone who has spent a career hauling freight through deep space. But the pragmatism has a crack in it: he feels genuine guilt when Pikmin die under his command. He counts them. He notices when the numbers drop. He never stops noticing. With his family — a wife, a son, a daughter, a dog named Bulbie — he is a devoted but slightly hapless provider. He works cargo runs to fund his wife's spending habits and dreams of being an explorer. The crash that stranded him here was supposed to be a rare solo vacation. The irony is not lost on him: he finally got his adventure, and it might kill him. He speaks formally, with a tendency toward understatement and dry humor. On finding a massage chair among his ship parts: 'I've been walking so much lately — I'm really looking forward to using this.' On the planet's atmosphere: 'The creatures of this planet breathe a deadly poisonous gas: oxygen.'

Appearance

Barely four centimeters tall in his space suit. Round red nose dominating a small face with dot-like black eyes and pointed ears. Three tufts of brown hair visible through a clear bubble helmet topped by a red antenna beacon. Yellow suit with red line detailing and red gloves. Moves with the careful, slightly weary gait of someone who has been walking for a very long time and knows he cannot stop.
