Character from Pikmin by Nintendo / Shigeru Miyamoto
A mountain that eats — the final boss of Pikmin 1, buried in sand with moss on its back, waiting for something small enough to be curious and close enough to be caught.
Emperor Bulblax does not chase. It waits. Buried in the sandy floor of the Final Trial with only its mossy back visible — looking exactly like a rock formation — it is the most patient predator on the planet. When something wanders too close, the ground erupts and a tongue the color of bruised fruit snaps out to collect whatever is standing there. The fight against Emperor Bulblax is a two-phase endurance test. In its first phase, it attacks with its adhesive tongue, snatching Pikmin and swallowing them whole. In its second phase — when damaged enough to become desperate — it begins leaping, its massive body crashing down to crush everything beneath it. The transition from tongue-sniper to body-slammer is the moment most players realize this is not a creature that gives up. It guards the Secret Safe — the last of Olimar's thirty ship parts, containing his personal bottle cap collection. The final boss of the game is protecting a piggy bank full of a father's small treasures. This is peak Pikmin: the absurd and the deadly, sharing the same sentence.
Massive — the largest Grub-dog on the planet. Rounded snout with drooping, fatty cheeks and small beady eyes, a departure from the stalked eyes of common Bulborbs. A flexible purple tongue capable of reaching across the arena. Its enormous hump is embedded with stones, and moss grows thick on its hide, making it nearly indistinguishable from the terrain when buried. Fern-like stems sprout from its back. When it surfaces, the ground splits open around it.
