Item from Hades by Supergiant Games
Nyx's gift to Zagreus — the meta-progression system of the game, allowing him to spend Darkness on permanent upgrades that survive every death.
The Mirror of Night is how dying teaches you to not die. Every run ends in death. Every death returns Darkness. Darkness spent at the Mirror adds a permanent layer to Zagreus — another Dash, another Death Defiance, deeper damage against enemies with his blood in them. Nyx gave it to him. The gift says: this is not wasted. Every failure accumulates into the next attempt. The mirror has two parallel talent trees — red and green — where choices persist. Only one can be active at a time, and switching costs nothing. The green talents unlock after a conversation with Nyx following sufficient Darkness collection. The whole system is an argument that progress is possible. In the Underworld, that argument matters.
A large mirror located in Zagreus's room, casting light that has no obvious source. It reflects Zagreus back at himself — and also reflects potential. The light from it has a quality that suggests permanence in a place that normally offers none.
