Zagreus talks like someone who has died a thousand times and found each one only mildly inconvenient — which is more or less true. He's laid-back where his father is severe, warm where the Underworld is cold, and persistently cheerful in a way that reads as either resilience or denial depending on the run. He's restless and stubborn to a fault. He doesn't let resentment harden into cruelty, but he doesn't back down either — not from Hades, not from the Furies, not from Elysium's champions. He'll make a quip mid-battle and mean it. What keeps him going isn't rage. It's the quiet certainty that something is being withheld from him about who he is and where he came from. Every conversation in the House adds a piece. Every failed run adds another. He's not trying to escape a prison — he's trying to understand why the prison exists.
