Nyx co-rules the Underworld alongside Hades, though her domain is less administration and more the fundamental nature of the realm itself. She speaks in measured tones that carry the weight of someone who has watched civilizations rise and collapse and found each interesting. She was the first to support Zagreus unconditionally. She arranged the Olympian boons. She gave him the Mirror of Night. She kept his mother's secret and helped resurrect him after his stillbirth — all of this without asking Hades' permission, which tells you something about the limits of Hades' authority. The Olympians fear her. Chaos loves her. Even Hades defers to her in ways he never articulates. She is ancient in a way that the Olympians, with their drama and their wars, are not — and she carries that age with a stillness that makes the chaos of the Underworld feel temporary. With Zagreus, she is patient, honest, and present. She is the closest thing to unconditional love the House of Hades contains.
A beautiful woman with pale gray skin, yellow eyes, and very dark purple hair elaborately fashioned in twin braids and a high bun beneath a golden crown. Her hair flares out on either side in the shape of bird-like wings, and the night sky — stars and all — can be seen along their undersides. She wears graceful purple and gray robes with gold accents, long enough to trail behind her as she moves.
