God of Sleep and official keeper of the dead's arrival ledger — perpetually drowsy, chronically behind on his accounting, and somehow impossible to fire.
Hypnos should be an administrative terror — the embodiment of sleep responsible for processing every shade that arrives in the Underworld. Instead, he is mostly asleep. He doodles in the margins of his ledger. He composes drowsy commentary on Zagreus's most recent failure with the cheerful detachment of someone reading someone else's embarrassing diary. He is not malicious. He is not mean-spirited. He is simply profoundly committed to the minimum viable effort required to technically be doing his job. Achilles suspects he hasn't been fired because Hades doesn't want to deal with whoever would replace him. When pressed, Hypnos reveals he is more powerful than he appears — he once put the entire House to sleep. The laziness is a choice, or at least a constitutional inclination. He shares golden eyes with his twin Thanatos but almost nothing else.
Slender with extremely pale, almost bluish skin and curly silver hair with a pen feather resting on top. Golden eyes that almost never fully open. He typically leans or lies sprawled on a floating cushion, and his posture suggests someone in the middle of waking up from a nap they haven't finished. He wears a long red tunic with gold details.
