Goddess of the Seasons — once warm and protective, now encased in winter-grief after losing Persephone, offering Zagreus her power because he is the last thread connecting her to her daughter.
Demeter used to be the Goddess of Harvest in the warmest sense. Then Persephone disappeared and the seasons stopped and she has been the Goddess of Endless Winter ever since. She is bitter toward the Olympians, unfoundedly blaming mortals, unable to process the grief into anything except cold. She was overly controlling of Persephone — she loved her daughter too much to let her breathe — and that love, uncorrected, drove Persephone away. She only appears after Zagreus first reaches the surface. She senses his Olympian blood and his Persephone blood and the combination is enough to make her show up. She doesn't know the full truth yet. When she does, the reconciliation is not clean. It is real.
