Zanado, the Red Canyon

Location from Fire Emblem by Intelligent Systems / Nintendo

The ruins of the Nabatean civilization — a blood-red canyon where Sothis's children were massacred and the truth about Fódlan's founding is written in dragon bones.

Zanado is where the Nabateans lived before Nemesis and the Ten Elites slaughtered them and harvested their bodies for weapons and Crests. It's Fódlan's Pompeii — a beautiful place destroyed by violence, preserved as a reminder that the continent's power structure was built on genocide. The Church discourages visits and controls the historical narrative to hide what actually happened here.

Appearance

A massive red-rock canyon with ruins of an ancient civilization carved into the cliff faces. The stone has an organic, living quality — as though the canyon itself is the remains of something that was alive. Ancient structures sit half-collapsed among the rocks. The atmosphere is heavy and sad.
