The Abyss

Location from Fire Emblem by Intelligent Systems / Nintendo

The hidden underground beneath Garreg Mach — home to outcasts, secrets, and the Ashen Wolves, a shadow academy for those the surface world rejected.

The Abyss exists because the surface world produces people it doesn't want. Students expelled from the Academy, commoners with nowhere else to go, and people whose secrets make them dangerous all end up here. It's governed by Yuri's pragmatic leadership and the unwritten rule that everyone here has been thrown away once and won't let it happen again. It also contains ancient libraries and ruins that predate the Church — historical records that the surface has suppressed. The Abyss is where the truth lives, buried under the monastery's carefully maintained lie.

Appearance

A vast underground network of tunnels, chambers, and repurposed ruins beneath the monastery. Lit by torches and magical crystals. The spaces are cramped but lived-in — the residents have made it as comfortable as an underground refuge can be. Markets, dormitories, and common areas are carved from ancient stone.
