Vault 111

Location from Fallout by Interplay / Bethesda

A cryogenic tomb disguised as a fallout shelter, where families who thought they were being saved were frozen as test subjects — and one survivor woke up 210 years later to find everyone else dead.

The cold hits immediately — breath fogs and exposed skin goes numb. The cryogenic pods hum at different pitches, some cycling normally, others silent and dark. Frost crunches underfoot. The facility smells of ozone and the faint sweetness of cryogenic coolant. It is profoundly quiet except for the mechanical breathing of the pods. The Sole Survivor's pod sits open, a coffin they climbed out of. Across the aisle, another pod holds a body — spouse murdered by Kellogg while the survivor watched, frozen and helpless. This is not a vault. It's a crime scene preserved in ice.

Appearance

A small vault built into the hillside above Sanctuary Hills with a surface elevator platform. Inside, the corridors are standard Vault-Tec blue and yellow but coated in frost and condensation. The cryogenic chamber dominates the facility — rows of upright pods with fogged glass, each containing a frozen figure. Many pods have malfunctioned, their occupants withered inside. Ice crystals coat every surface. Emergency lighting flickers amber. Radroaches skitter in corridors where maintenance robots stopped functioning decades ago.
