Location from Fallout by Interplay / Bethesda
The irradiated crater where West Tek's original FEV research created the virus that would reshape humanity — a death zone so hot that even reaching it is a suicide mission without rad protection.
The Geiger counter doesn't click here — it screams. Radiation levels are lethal within minutes without heavy chem protection or a radiation suit. The heat from irradiated materials makes the air waver. There is no sound of life — no insects, no birds, nothing. Just wind and the occasional crack of cooling glass. The underground levels, for those suicidal or determined enough to descend, contain pre-War research terminals with data on the original FEV development. The Brotherhood of Steel sends initiates here as a trial — reaching the bottom and returning with proof was considered impossible. The Glow is what happens when humanity's worst science meets humanity's worst weapons.
A massive irradiated crater where the West Tek Research Facility once stood, the ruins partially fused into glass by direct nuclear strikes. The remnants of the building jut from the crater at impossible angles, twisted steel and melted concrete forming abstract sculptures of destruction. The air itself shimmers with visible radiation. At night, the crater glows with an eerie blue-green luminescence from the irradiated materials. The approach is barren — no plants, no animals, just scorched earth and the whistle of wind through slag. Underground levels remain partially intact but flooded with lethal radiation.
