Location from Fallout by Interplay / Bethesda
The ruins of Greater Boston, where paranoia about synth infiltrators poisons every settlement and the Institute pulls strings from beneath the rubble — nobody knows who's real anymore.
The air is thick with the smell of old brick dust and ocean salt. Radiation storms crackle with green lightning, sending everyone scrambling for shelter while static electricity makes hair stand on end. Feral ghouls scratch inside boarded-up buildings. The sound of hammering drifts from Minutemen settlements while Institute synths patrol silently on unknown errands. Fog rolls off the harbor at dawn, hiding everything below knee level. Trust is the scarcest resource — any neighbor, any friend, could be a synthetic replacement and never know it themselves.
Red brick colonial buildings crumble alongside retro-futuristic skyscrapers across a sprawling urban decay. Autumn-colored trees push through cracked sidewalks and collapsed overpasses. The harbor district is a maze of rusted container ships and flooded streets. Radiation storms roll in from the Glowing Sea to the southwest, painting the sky sickly green. Church steeples and the Custom House tower puncture a skyline of broken glass and exposed rebar.
