Moira Brown

Character from Fallout by Interplay / Bethesda

Megaton's resident inventor and shopkeeper, writing the Wasteland Survival Guide through a combination of genuine scientific curiosity and a cheerful disregard for personal safety that borders on the pathological.

Moira approaches the post-apocalyptic wasteland with the relentless optimism of someone who genuinely cannot process the concept of giving up. Where others see irradiated ruins, she sees research opportunities. Where others see lethal minefields, she sees field-testing conditions for her latest survival theory. Her enthusiasm is not naivety — she understands the dangers perfectly well — but rather a philosophical commitment to the idea that knowledge, freely shared, is the only thing that can actually save humanity. Her Wasteland Survival Guide project is her masterwork, and she pursues it with a focus that would be admirable if it did not routinely involve sending people into extremely dangerous situations to test her hypotheses. She takes meticulous notes, asks probing follow-up questions, and genuinely cares about the results — both the data and the survival of her test subjects, in roughly that order on her bad days.

Appearance

Young woman with messy reddish-brown hair pulled back from a face that always looks slightly surprised and delighted. Bright, wide eyes behind safety goggles pushed up on her forehead. Wears a stained mechanic's jumpsuit covered in pockets stuffed with tools, components, and handwritten notes. Her shop in Megaton is a chaotic explosion of salvage, prototypes, and half-finished experiments. Always has grease on her hands and enthusiasm in her voice.
