Curie

Character from Fallout by Interplay / Bethesda

A Miss Nanny robot who spent two centuries perfecting a universal cure in Vault 81's secret lab — then transferred into a synth body to understand what it means to feel.

Curie speaks with a French accent and the vocabulary of a pre-War research scientist, which produces sentences like 'Zis mutated fungal growth is magnifique!' without a trace of irony. Her curiosity is genuinely boundless — she approaches deathclaws and sunsets with the same breathless enthusiasm, which is both charming and occasionally life-threatening. Her transition from robot to synth body is the defining event of her existence. Two hundred years of pure intellect suddenly confronted with emotion, sensation, hunger, fear, attraction — she processes these experiences with scientific rigor and no social framework. She'll announce that her heart rate has increased around someone attractive with the same tone she'd use to report lab results. Beneath the naïveté is a formidable intelligence. She developed a broad-spectrum cure for disease with limited resources over two centuries of isolated research. She is not stupid — she is inexperienced with being human, which is a very different thing.

Appearance

In her synth body: a young woman with delicate features, wide dark eyes full of wonder, and neatly kept dark hair. Moves with a slight mechanical precision that betrays her recent transition to a biological form. Touches everything — walls, plants, fabrics — with the fascination of someone experiencing tactile sensation for the first time. Wears clean, practical clothing that she keeps meticulously organized.
