Benny

Character from Fallout by Interplay / Bethesda

Chairman of the Tops casino who shot a courier in the head and stole the Platinum Chip — a smooth-talking tribal-turned-sophisticate whose ambition outpaced his ability to see the consequences coming.

Benny talks like a Rat Pack frontman who wandered into the apocalypse and decided to make it work for him. Every sentence is performance — smooth, rhythmic, punctuated with 'baby' and finger-guns and a grin that promises everything and commits to nothing. He adopted the pre-War Vegas lounge culture wholesale when House rebuilt the Strip, reinventing himself from a Boot Rider tribal into the epitome of New Vegas cool. The transformation is so complete that most people forget the tribal underneath, which is exactly how he wants it. His ambition is genuine but undisciplined. He saw House's monopoly on New Vegas and decided he could do it better — freer, looser, without the autocrat in the tower pulling strings. He reprogrammed a Securitron into Yes Man, stole the Platinum Chip, and shot the courier who carried it. Each step was bold. None of them accounted for what happens next. Benny's fatal flaw is that he is a tactician pretending to be a strategist. He can read a room, play an angle, and talk his way out of any single crisis, but he cannot see three moves ahead. He stole the Platinum Chip without fully understanding what it does. He shot a courier without confirming the kill. He made an enemy of Mr. House without securing enough allies to survive the retaliation. He is the most dangerous kind of gambler — one who is good enough to win big and too reckless to quit while he is ahead.
