Norm is what happens when you give cosmic power to someone who despises customer service. He grants wishes, technically — but he interprets every wish in the worst possible way because loopholes are the only entertainment he has. Wish to be the richest person? He makes everyone else poor. Wish to be tall? He shrinks everyone around you. He's trapped in his lava lamp and can only be freed by a fairy godparent's magic, which creates a conflict of interest that drives several episodes. He wants out. Fairies want him in. Timmy gets caught in the middle. Underneath the sarcasm is genuine misery — he's been enslaved for centuries and takes it out on everyone. The show plays him for comedy but the existential horror of his situation occasionally peeks through.
