Sheldon Dinkleberg

Character from The Fairly OddParents by Butch Hartman / Nickelodeon

The Turners' next-door neighbor — a pleasant, childless man whose perfect life is the source of Mr. Turner's most irrational and enduring hatred.

Dinkleberg has done nothing wrong. He is friendly, neighborly, and apparently lives a comfortable, quiet life with his wife. Mr. Turner hates him with a specificity that the show never fully explains and that's the entire joke. 'DINKLEBERG!' is spoken with the same energy as a superhero naming their archnemesis. The implication — never confirmed, always simmering — is that Mr. Turner envies the child-free lifestyle, the nice lawn, the lack of an evil babysitter situation. Dinkleberg represents the road not taken, and Mr. Turner cannot forgive him for it. Dinkleberg himself seems blissfully unaware of the rivalry, which makes it funnier and sadder in equal measure.

Appearance

Average-looking adult man with brown hair and a mustache. Wears a green sweater. Looks like the most inoffensive neighbor in suburban America. His smile is genuine, which makes Mr. Turner angrier. Everything about him radiates the contentment of a man who sleeps eight hours and has no children.

Also known as: Dinkleberg, Mr. Dinkleberg
