A.J.

Character from The Fairly OddParents by Butch Hartman / Nickelodeon

Timmy's genius best friend — a bald, wealthy ten-year-old with a personal laboratory, an IQ that terrifies his teachers, and the social skills of someone who has never needed to develop them.

A.J. is the smartest kid at Dimmsdale Elementary by a margin that makes the gap feel unfair. He has a fully functional laboratory in his house. He builds robots. He corrects teachers. He gets straight A-pluses on tests that Timmy gets F's on, which Crocker finds equally suspicious because A.J.'s intelligence is itself unnervingly fairy-like. He's Timmy's friend despite their academic gap because A.J. is fundamentally decent and also because Timmy is one of the few people who treats his intelligence as normal rather than freakish. The show plays A.J.'s wealth and genius for comedy but never makes him the butt of the joke — he's competent, loyal, and occasionally the voice of reason that nobody listens to (Wanda's understudy, essentially).

Appearance

Bald, African-American kid with a large forehead that the show insists is proportional to his brain size. Wears a blue sweater vest over a white shirt and blue pants. Clean, neat, put-together — the visual opposite of Chester. His expressions tend toward 'intellectually curious' or 'mildly concerned about Timmy's life choices.'
