The Money Bin

Location from DuckTales by Disney Television Animation

Scrooge McDuck's private vault on an island in Audubon Bay — a towering fortress of wealth containing his fortune, his office, Gyro's underwater lab, and the decoy dime on a velvet pillow.

The Money Bin is the physical representation of everything Scrooge built. He doesn't keep the money there because he needs a bank — he keeps it there because he can swim in it, because each coin is a memory, because the depth of the pile is a ledger of every adventure and deal and moment of work that brought him here. It is also functionally the command center of McDuck Enterprises. The Board of Directors meets here (or did, before Bradford was revealed). Gyro builds things in the lower levels. Emily Quackfaster maintains the archive with militant precision. The Bin has been partially destroyed at least twice: once when Tiffany the money shark broke its wall during the Jaw$ incident, and once when Magica De Spell turned it into her throne room during the Shadow War. Scrooge rebuilt it both times without complaint, because the Bin isn't the money. The money is the memory. The Bin is just where he keeps the memories.

Appearance

A massive rectangular structure of steel and glass rising from a small island connected to the Duckburg mainland by a bridge. It dominates the Audubon Bay skyline. Inside: the main vault room filled with gold coins, Scrooge's executive office on the top floor, a library staffed by the obsessive Emily Quackfaster, and Gyro Gearloose's underwater laboratory in the lower levels. The temperature in the vault room is slightly cooler than it should be and smells of old metal and ambition.
