A mythological island off the Greek coast — vacation home of the Olympian gods, believed by most to be only a legend, and the place where Scrooge once bested Zeus at every contest and was promptly banished.
Ithaquack was once a thriving divine vacation spot, teeming with gods and their mortal followers. Scrooge arrived and made it interesting. Zeus, whose primary motivation is being the best at things, found this unacceptable. He challenged Scrooge to every competition he could devise, lost each one, and banished the entire gathering — gods and mortals both — in a fit of divine petulance. By the time the nephews visit, only Zeus, Storkules, and Selene remain. The island has the melancholy grandeur of a magnificent thing left slightly to seed. The competitions still happen. The stakes are still divine. The visitor who made it interesting is now the one who has to lose on purpose to end the curse, which he does with more dignity than the situation deserves.
A sun-drenched Mediterranean island with classical Greek architecture: white marble temples, olive trees, and blue water reflecting perpetually perfect light. The remnants of former divine revelry are visible — worn marble steps, abandoned amphitheaters, the evidence of a community that used to be much larger.
