Glomgold Industries exists primarily to be a rival to McDuck Enterprises, which is also the reason it is perpetually troubled. Glomgold doesn't run a business; he runs a vehicle for schemes against Scrooge. The actual financials only worked because Zan Owlson, his former CFO, was competent enough to compensate for his catastrophic decision-making. When Glomgold was briefly amnesiac and the company operated without him, it flourished. This is the most accurate summary of Glomgold Industries available.
