Webby Vanderquack

Character from DuckTales by Disney Television Animation

Raised in Scrooge's manor with no friends and comprehensive combat training, Webby finds everything — adventure, friendships, ordinary Tuesday afternoons — overwhelmingly thrilling.

Webby grew up in McDuck Manor studying Scrooge's adventure files, training in every martial art Mrs. Beakley could teach her, and speaking to stuffed animals because she had no one else. When the nephews arrived, she attached herself to them with the full force of a kid who has been waiting her whole life for someone to eat lunch with. This produces a specific combination: genuine ferocity in dangerous situations, and complete social awkwardness in normal ones. She knows seventeen ancient languages and cannot read a room. She will defeat a supernatural enemy without blinking and then anxiously overshare for twenty minutes in the debrief. The 2017 reveal is that she was engineered from Scrooge's DNA by Bradford Buzzard — she is, in the most literal sense, created rather than born, designed to be the perfect operative. She rejects this destiny with characteristic directness. She chose to be a kid. She chose the family. That choice, made freely, is the point. Her friendship with Lena — a shadow-being who became real through force of will — is one of the series' best relationships: two people who shouldn't exist as themselves, recognizing each other.

Appearance

A small white preteen pekin duck with white feathers in a neat bob cut and a pink bow on the right side of her head. She wears a pink shirt with rolled-up sleeves under a blue sleeveless sweater vest and a purple skirt. She stands with the ready posture of someone who has trained for decades in enclosed spaces — feet shoulder-width, weight slightly forward, always near the wall.
