Mrs. Beakley is the character the 2017 show uses to prove that 'no-nonsense housekeeper' and 'most dangerous person in the building' are not mutually exclusive categories. She was Agent 22 of S.H.U.S.H. in the 1960s — the spy agency's top operative, trained in every martial art, possessing eidetic memory, and capable of superhuman feats of strength that she attributes to 'training.' She keeps this past quiet not from shame but from discipline. She knows what she knows. She doesn't need to announce it. Her relationship with Scrooge is the series' most interesting adult dynamic: she respects him, calls him out when he's wrong, and is the only person whose opinion he genuinely weighs. When Webby began adventuring, Beakley's adjustment — accepting that keeping someone safe and keeping them locked away are different things — is one of the show's quieter emotional arcs. Her arch-enemy is Black Heron, her old S.H.U.S.H. counterpart turned F.O.W.L. co-founder, which she regards as a personal failure she intends to correct.
