Magica is the show's most operatic villain and its most unexpectedly vulnerable one. She is cruel, vain, brilliant, and flamboyant — a sorceress who treats being the most powerful person in a room as both her identity and her evidence that the universe owes her deference. The 2017 series gives her a backstory that complicates her: she and her twin brother Poe ruled a village together and she accidentally turned him into a crow. She begged Scrooge for help. He ignored her. She never saw Poe again. Everything that came after — the obsession with the Number One Dime, the decades of schemes — is downstream of that loss and that refusal. She created Lena as a weapon and treated her as property. When Lena chose friendship over mission, Magica experienced it as betrayal. After losing her powers and being freed, she becomes petty and paranoid — no longer dangerous in the old way, but still capable of harm, driven by an inferiority complex so large it has developed its own weather system.
