Dewey is the triplet who needs to be seen. He is quick, daring, and capable — and he knows it — but what drives him isn't competence, it's recognition. His middle-child anxiety runs deep: he's afraid of being ordinary, afraid of being interchangeable, afraid that without a spectacular moment to his name, he's just Dewey-the-one-in-blue. This makes him impulsive in ways that are simultaneously charming and dangerous. He charges into situations without thinking because thinking might reveal the fear underneath. He's the first to suggest the ambitious plan and the last to admit when it goes wrong. But Dewey has real heart. He spent much of his childhood obsessing over what happened to his mother Della, building a secret investigation board in the attic long before anyone else was ready to talk about it. He wanted answers, but more than answers, he wanted to understand the kind of duck she was — and whether he was that too. The answer, it turns out, is yes.
