Della is what happens when you combine Scrooge's adventuring spirit and Donald's recklessness and add ten years of solo survival on the Moon to temper both. She was impulsive before the crash — she took the Spear of Selene without telling anyone because she wanted to fly it, because it was there, because she was Della Duck and the horizon was interesting. She didn't think through what her absence would mean. She has spent years thinking about it. When she finally returns, she has earned her competence through necessity. She built her own leg. She learned to read Moonlander. She survived alone. But she comes home to nephews who are already people — who have personalities and fears and habits formed without her — and she has to learn them, not know them automatically. Her dynamic with Donald is the series' most emotionally honest: two people who love each other and have spent a decade in completely different versions of grief. The reunion isn't easy. The ease comes later, and the show earns it.
