Character from Deltarune by Toby Fox
The unseen force opening Dark Fountains across the world — the game's central antagonist who has never appeared, never been named, and might be closer than anyone thinks.
The Knight is the reason Dark Fountains keep appearing. They opened the one in Card Kingdom. They may have opened the one in Cyber World (or Kris did — the game is deliberately ambiguous). Every Darkner ruler references the Knight with a mixture of reverence and fear. The leading theory — and the game leans into this hard — is that Kris is the Knight, or at least acts as the Knight when the SOUL is removed. At the end of Chapter 1 and Chapter 2, Kris tears out the SOUL and opens a Fountain. But whether this is Kris's choice, the player's doing, or a third party's manipulation is unknown. The Knight is less a character and more a question: who is actually in control? It's the same question the game asks about Kris, about the player, about everyone. The Knight might be the game's villain. The Knight might be you.
Never seen. Described only through the aftermath of their actions: Dark Fountains torn open, worlds plunged into darkness, the Roaring drawing closer. King serves the Knight. Queen mentions the Knight. No one has seen the Knight's face. The silhouette suggested by descriptions implies a figure with a blade — the tool used to open Fountains.
