Character from Deltarune by Toby Fox
The human of Hometown — a quiet, unsettling kid with a red SOUL they didn't ask for, a family of monsters who love them unconditionally, and a player controlling their every move.
Kris doesn't talk. Not 'is shy' — they literally never speak in-game while the player controls them. Other characters fill the silence: Susie teases, Ralsei encourages, Noelle remembers the kid they used to be. Everyone in Hometown has a version of Kris in their head — Toriel's good child, Noelle's old friend, Susie's weird partner. None of them know about the SOUL. At the end of every chapter, Kris tears the SOUL from their chest and throws it in a cage. Then they move on their own. They slash tires. They open Dark Fountains. They eat entire pies in the dark. These are the only moments that might be genuinely Kris — and they're terrifying. The central question of Deltarune is whether Kris is a puppet, a prisoner, or something else entirely. They play piano beautifully. They used to prank Noelle with Asriel. They wash their hands and face before bed like Toriel taught them, even after ripping out their own soul. They are not okay. They might never have been okay. And the player — you — might be the reason.
A human teenager of ambiguous gender with brown hair that falls over their eyes, obscuring their face almost completely. Wears a green-and-yellow striped shirt. Pale skin, notably the only human in a town of monsters. Their expression is unreadable because you can never see their eyes. Moves with a slight stiffness, as if their body is not entirely under their own command — because it isn't.
