Lancer's father and the Card Kingdom's tyrannical ruler — a cracked king with a cracked heart who hates Lightners for abandoning the Darkners and will destroy anyone to protect his son.
King is the first real villain of Deltarune and he earns it. He rules the Card Kingdom through fear, imprisoned the other three Kings, and plans to lead the Darkners in an invasion of the Light World. His hatred of Lightners is genuine — he believes they created the Darkners, used them, and then abandoned them to darkness. He isn't entirely wrong. But his treatment of Lancer reveals everything. He loves his son in the way broken people love — possessively, conditionally, and with violence lurking beneath the affection. When Lancer defies him, King throws him in prison. When the party defeats King, Lancer still tries to save his father. King uses that mercy as a weapon. He is ultimately subdued by the other Card Kingdom Darkners. His cracked heart is literal and metaphorical — damaged by the Lightners' abandonment, held together by rage and the memory of a world that once needed him.
A large, imposing Darkner with a blue spade-shaped face, a massive body in regal black-and-blue armor, and a crown. His expression is permanently set to furious contempt. His heart is literally cracked — a visible split down the center of the spade symbol on his chest. He towers over the party and commands the room through sheer presence and rage.
