Zordaya Prison Complex

Location from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III by Infinity Ward / Activision

The Russian gulag in Kastovia where Makarov was imprisoned — and where the entire MW3 campaign begins, as Konni Group breaks him out in the first mission.

Zordaya is where the MW3 story begins — with the player inhabiting a Konni Group operator during the prison break. The mission establishes the stakes immediately: Makarov walks out of his cell and into his own plan without missing a step. He was imprisoned. He used the time. The '627' designation is a direct reference to Price's imprisonment in the original Modern Warfare 2 campaign — the writers connecting the two antagonists through shared experience of the same system. Makarov's release number mirrors Price's rescue.

Appearance

Soviet-era prison architecture: reinforced concrete, guard towers, a central courtyard surrounded by cell blocks. The walls are designed for containment; the roof provides decent overwatch positions for anyone willing to climb. Makarov's cell was in Prison 627 — the number that references John Price's own Gulag imprisonment in MW2.

Also known as: Prison 627, Zordaya
