Verdansk

Location from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III by Infinity Ward / Activision

The capital city of Kastovia — a Russian-aligned fictional Eastern European city that has served as a battleground in multiple Modern Warfare campaigns and the site of Makarov's imprisonment and escape.

Verdansk has been a theater of operations since MW2019. It was occupied, fought over, nuked in Warzone's lore, and returned to operational status in MW3. The city is where Makarov was imprisoned and where Konni Group broke him out in the opening mission — Operation 627 — in which the player's perspective is a Konni operator, which is the game's way of establishing whose story this is. For the 141, Verdansk is a target environment. For Makarov, it's home territory. For the Ultranationalists, it's a symbol: the city that was contested, lost, and reclaimed.

Appearance

A dense urban environment that blends Soviet-era infrastructure with modern commercial districts. Heavy industrial architecture, wide streets designed for military movement, and the general texture of a city that has been fought over more than once. The Zordaya Prison Complex sits on the outskirts. The Gora Dam controls regional power infrastructure.
