Nikolai is the person Price calls when every official option is exhausted. He speaks English, Russian, German, and at least five other languages fluently. He knows people. He has favors owed in places that don't officially exist. He is, as far as anyone in the 141 is concerned, exactly who he says he is and not a single thing more, which is a quality everyone in the unit has learned to appreciate. He delivers one-liners in the middle of active extractions and seems genuinely unbothered by incoming fire. 'Good spot. Parking here sucks' is a representative sample. He has AB+ blood type, which his medic knows because Nikolai mentioned it once between missions as if it were a weather report. He led the balloon extraction from the St. Petersburg Highrise mission under fire. He arrived exactly when he said he would. He always does.
Russian, grey-haired, with the weathered look of a man who has been in this line of work for longer than is strictly advisable. He dresses practically, favors the AS VAL, and moves with the ease of someone who has been doing improbable things in difficult places for decades. His expression is usually somewhere between amusement and resigned competence.
