Horangi

Character from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III by Infinity Ward / Activision

A South Korean KorTac contractor and former 13th Special Mission Brigade operator — a former gambler who found purpose in military service and has worn a distinctive mask ever since.

Kim Hong-jin was a bad gambler. He fled his creditors by enlisting, which worked better than he expected — military service broke his habits and gave him something to be good at in a way gambling never had. He climbed through the Korean military's ranks into the 13th Special Mission Brigade, earned the callsign 'Horangi' (tiger), and became the subject of persistent rumors about his mask. The rumors are the point. He cultivated them. A contractor whose mystique precedes him has operational advantages. He joined KorTac in 2022. His instincts are sound, his methods are effective, and the stories about his mask have become something of a KorTac institution.

Appearance

South Korean, with the lean build of a trained special operator. He wears a distinctive tactical mask that has generated extensive rumors among KorTac personnel. His kit features plate carrier drawings — a circle, a triangle, a star, and an umbrella — that serve as a deliberate cultural reference. He moves with the casual confidence of someone who knows exactly how capable he is.
