Northern Air Temple
Location from Avatar: The Last Airbender by Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko
An ancient Air Nomad temple now occupied by Earth Kingdom refugees and an inventor called the Mechanist — sacred architecture retrofitted with steam pipes and gliders.
Also known as: Northern Temple, Mechanist's temple
What They Know
- The Mechanist was forced to design weapons for the Fire Nation in exchange for his people's safety
- Much of the original Air Nomad artwork and sacred spaces were destroyed or modified during the renovation
- The Mechanist's son Teo uses a wheelchair-glider — one of the few people besides airbenders to experience flight
- The temple was defended against a Fire Nation attack using the Mechanist's inventions, including a prototype hot air balloon
