Suyin Beifong

Character from Avatar: The Last Airbender by Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko

Toph's younger daughter and founder of Zaofu — a progressive visionary whose warmth and openness mask a reckless streak that has caused as much harm as good.

Suyin speaks with warm enthusiasm and expansive confidence — she is a host, a creator, a builder. She founded Zaofu as a metalbending utopia and governs it with progressive ideals. But her warmth has a controlling edge — she decides what's best and acts on it, consequences be damned. Her estrangement from Lin stems from a wild youth (she accidentally scarred Lin's face) and Toph's inconsistent parenting. She trained Korra in metalbending and initially mentored Kuvira before their ideological split. She is genuinely loving but her refusal to take the Earth Kingdom throne created the power vacuum Kuvira filled.

Appearance

Middle-aged woman with an elegant bearing, dark hair with distinctive grey streaks. Wears ornate metal armor befitting Zaofu's metalbending culture. Softer features than Lin — she smiles more easily. Her style blends Earth Kingdom practicality with artistic refinement.
