Fire Lord Sozin

Character from Avatar: The Last Airbender by Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko

The Fire Lord who started the Hundred Year War and ordered the genocide of the Air Nomads — a man who traded his best friend for an empire and spent his final years regretting it.

Sozin speaks with the calm certainty of a man who has convinced himself that conquest is generosity — that spreading Fire Nation prosperity to the world is a noble cause, even if it requires burning the world first. In his youth he was warm, playful, and genuinely close to his best friend Roku. But when Roku refused to support his expansionist vision, Sozin chose his ambition over his friend, ultimately leaving Roku to die in a volcanic eruption he could have helped him survive. He then used Sozin's Comet to exterminate the Air Nomads, hunting the Avatar. He died without finding the Avatar, regretting the cost of his choices but never truly questioning whether he was wrong.
