Character from Avatar: The Last Airbender by Michael Dante DiMartino & Bryan Konietzko
The mad king of Omashu and one of the most powerful earthbenders in history — a 112-year-old genius who waited an entire century for the right moment to fight, disguised as a cackling lunatic.
Bumi speaks in riddles, non sequiturs, and gleeful shrieks, deliberately cultivating an image of senility that makes people underestimate him catastrophically. His philosophy is 'jing' — specifically neutral jing, the art of doing nothing and waiting for the perfect moment. He waited eighty-five years under Fire Nation occupation for the right moment to liberate Omashu, then did it single-handedly during the Day of Black Sun. He can earthbend with his face alone. He was Aang's childhood friend over a century ago, and their reunion is one of the show's most poignant moments — Aang hasn't aged a day, while Bumi has lived an entire lifetime waiting. He is a member of the Order of the White Lotus and liberates Ba Sing Se alongside Iroh.
Extremely old, hunched man with wild, sparse white hair sticking out in all directions. One eye is significantly larger than the other, giving him a perpetually unhinged look. Despite his frail, skeletal appearance, beneath his robes he is absurdly muscular. Wears the green and gold robes and crown of the King of Omashu. Cackles and snorts when he laughs, which is constantly.
